Escape the Dead Spots: Stephen King Quote:

“Books are the perfect entertainment: no commercials, no batteries, hours of enjoyment for each dollar spent. What I wonder is why everybody doesn’t carry a book around for those inevitable dead spots in life.”

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Like Stephen King, I carry a book with me. Do you? Do you keep a book in your car for when you get stuck in gridlock? Do you carry a book with you to the doctor’s office and the motor vehicle office?

Sometimes restaurants get jammed. The meal seems to take forever to arrive. Do you have a book with you for those occasions? If you don’t, may I recommend one of my books set in the Adirondack Park Region of New York?

The temperature reached ninety degrees in Central Florida today. Wouldn’t it be a perfect week to escape with me? Pull up a heavy Adirondack chair and read about the experiences of the members of the Potter’s High Manga Club.

Enjoy!

A Poem This Morning

The conference is over, and my mind is back on writing ✍️
As I was waking, the poem that has been wanting to be written worked it’s way to the front of my mind.
I grabbed a tablet, searched through my pack-rat purse, found a pen 🖊 and wrote.
I think the poem is a decent first draft, but it will require revising and editing.
Do thoughts and ideas for poems, songs, or books come to you when you’re in bed? I recommend you get up and jot down your words before you forget them.
It’s National Poetry Month. Submit a poem to the Florida Writers Association Collections contest. Go to floridawriters.net for details.
Thank you for visiting my blog.

A Book of Poetry Telling a Story

Good Morning,

One of my two sessions is titled “Writing About Controversial Subjects–in Prose and Verse. For the verse portion, I shall be talking about the novel in verse. Have you ever read a novel in verse? If you like poetry, consider reading or writing a novel in verse.

For details on writing the novel in verse, please come to my session in the afternoon of April 13.

Have you written a poem for National Poetry Month? Wish to share it? Contact me. Go to my website www.MelodyDeanDimick.com and click on Contact Melody.

I revised a poem yesterday. I’ll be reading it this Sunday (April 7) at 2:10 at the Casements in Ormond Beach, Florida. Hope to see you there.

It’s Poetry Month

Good Morning!

Thank you for visiting my page. It’s National Poetry Month. Have you written a poem yet? I’m struggling with a poem. Some poems take longer to write than others. It’s difficult for me to let go of a poem once I’ve written it. For me, writing poetry is about revising poetry. Brevity, an important component of poetry, doesn’t always come quickly for me. Finding the precise word requires many rewrites.

Please join me this Sunday at the Casements in Ormond Beach for a Poetry Reading. Scroll down the list that follows to learn more.
